What is the Frame Made Of?
The frame is the backbone of your screen room, and we primarily use two types of wood: pressure-treated pine and cedar. Each has its own advantages, depending on your priorities.
Pressure-Treated Pine
- Budget-friendly and designed to last for years.
- Arrives from the mill still wet, meaning it can’t be stained immediately.
- Naturally weathers over time but won’t have the same polished look as cedar.
Cedar
- Ideal for aesthetics and long-term value.
- Hand-sanded and pre-stained before installation, ensuring it looks great from day one.
- Naturally rot-resistant, requiring only a fresh coat of stain every 3-4 years to maintain its beauty and durability.
- Higher upfront cost compared to pine.
What Kind of Screen Do You Use?
We use only high-quality, ultra-durable screens designed to withstand years of use. The strength of our screens is one of the most frequent compliments we receive from customers.
One customer shared a story about how her neighbor’s large dog tried to break into her screened porch to chase her cats—but the screen held firm without even a tear. That’s the level of durability you can expect.
How is the Screen Attached?
Most screen rooms use a spline system, which holds the screen in place with a rubber cord pressed into a groove. While this is common, it isn’t the most durable—over time, screens can loosen or pop out with accidental pressure.
Our Staple Method Offers:
✔ A tighter, more secure fit
✔ Increased resistance to accidental damage
✔ Greater longevity with minimal maintenance
With our method, you won’t have to worry about bumping into the screen and knocking it loose—it stays put for years.
How Long Does It Take to Build?
Every project is unique, but here’s a general timeline:
- Smaller, simple enclosures → 2-3 days
- Larger screen rooms with extra features → Up to 2 weeks
Factors like size, roofing options, and custom features all impact the final build time.
How Long Will It Last?
With proper care, our screen rooms last 10+ years—sometimes even longer. We take extra steps during construction to minimize maintenance and prevent long-term issues.
Durability Features:
✔ Drainage gaps to prevent water buildup
✔ High-quality oil-based stains for long-lasting protection
✔ Structural components built to withstand the elements
